I took a little hike today to retrieve a Yrium Card

Several years ago, a great guy whose user name was Yrium started creating some "trading cards" for his Geocaching friends. When he passed away, FlagMan continued the tradition with the help of other cachers, including SD Rowdies, who is a Photoshop expert.

Recently, a new card was created for Team Adelos, our resident "Puzzlemaster." Let's Look Over Thayer (LLOT for short) made the choice of the honoree and helped with the design.

When Princess Toadstool and I cached together in 2005 and early 2006, we made a point of seeking out these cards. I have a decent collection of them, so even though it was a bit of a hike, I decided it was worth it to get the card, and maybe then I could also finally log a find on that cache—one I have been to several times.

On the way to the cache, I had to walk past the mansion and I took a few pictures near it. This was a view of Otay Mountain off to the south.

The broken windows on one of the out-buildings made for some interesting "art."

Not too far from that interesting building is the tennis court where this abandoned chair sits.

San Diego skies rarely have pretty cumulous clouds. Today was one of those days and I got a picture of the "mansion" with Mt. McGinty in the background.

On the way back down the hill, I could feel the distance I had walked in my legs, and then I even got some leg cramps—while I was walking—something that was very strange. I guess I didn't drink enough liquid during the hike. As soon as I got home I ate a couple of bananas and drank a large glass of water.

It sure was a nice day today. Although we might get some more hot weather, it is great that for now the temperatures have moderated, so going for a hike out here in the East County is once again a mid-day possibility.
