Two new Keen People maps for 04/05/06

I made a new map of my finds after the far flung finds of the past several days, some in the Laguna Mountains, some on the coast in La Jolla, and one down in Imperial Beach.

I also made another map of my 59 cache placements around the county:

One day of caching with fisnjack; another with "the group"

I got home after midnight last night after a great day caching with duganrm, GoBolts! and his wife, Tigger's Mango, Duncan!, and TrailGators.

We had a great time looking for several additional caches while seeking out two DAK Girls' caches, "The Lost City of Atlantis" and "The Lost Relic of Rapa Nui."

I took several pictures on the gorgeous San Diego day.

This was an artifact we saw on our long hike around the Penasquitos area that was etched with a date from October 25, 1947.

At the beach, I got this picture while the guys took off for the final cache location.

TrailGators didn't run quite fast enough to keep from getting wet.

Along the way to "Coastal Hike," we saw sea anemones and other tidepool critters in the sculpted sandstone.

There were a few somewhat-scary obstacles to get past on that wonderful walk.

Near sunset, we all posed on the sculpted sandstone for a group portrait.

It was an incredible day that showed me some areas I have to return to on an equally-nice day, so I can take even more photographs. The sandstone sculptures and tide pools on the "Coastal Hike" were simply spectacular.

On Friday, March 31, I went caching with fisnjack. It was cloudy and overcast in the Lagunas, but it was perfect hiking weather for the trip to "Jack's Plunge."

This was a wonderful cache location with waterfalls along the trail up to the cache.

I got to the ammo can first and was examining the great swag teamjack&birdie had put into the cache. There was a "Conejo Cachers" coin in the cache, and several other items, and then I saw another coin in the cache. I was looking at it and trying to read it in the low light, and then I saw my name on the coin, and "1000th Cache." It was a coin to commemorate my 1000th cache at "Indiana Ed's Subterranean Cache." While I was checking out the other swag, fisnjack had reached over and surreptitiously slipped it into the container.

What a nice surprise, and a nice gift! Thank you, fisnjack!!

After hiking back from that cache, we headed up higher into the mountains where it was even colder, with fog rolling in at times. We found a few other caches, including the "View to the Stars" Multi for which I have had the coordinates for several months.

We found a wonderfully fun SD Rowdies's cache, "Mom Told Me to Stay Out of the Street," in Pine Valley before leaving the mountains and heading for home.

On our way back down the mountain, we saw that the San Diego area had been bathed in beautiful clear sunshine all day. It was a preview of what a beautiful day Saturday was going to be.
